Afghanistan is one of the locations that our TAC-SWACAA (Total Army Communications-Southwest Asia) project operates. We have a variety of communications positions at multiple locations. Personnel deployed to Afghanistan usually live and work on the supporting military installation. Accommodation and meals are provided at no cost to the employee, while employees receive various monetary allowances in addition to base pay while working at these locations. In most cases, travel to and from work site is minimal with the majority of downrange locations being to adjacent living and work areas. Accommodations vary by site, but usually consist of military tents, modified commercial living trailers or in some case hardened buildings with air-conditioning and electricity provided. Meals will be provided at the mess halls free of charge but dependant on the location you may also purchase meals at Burger King, Pizza Hut or a variety of other local establishments on base.
